Tether Cam
Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 20, 2026
This policy describes the current Tether Cam product. Before public release, Lucivanta must have this policy reviewed for the regions where the app is offered and keep it updated when data practices change.
What Tether Cam is
Tether Cam lets you use your own devices as cameras and Recording Hubs. Recordings and their previews are stored on the Recording Hub you choose, rather than in a public Lucivanta video library.
Information used to provide the service
- Account information: Firebase Authentication provides Google sign-in and anonymous guest sessions. A signed-in account can include an account identifier and, when supplied by the sign-in provider, an email address.
- Recording content: video, audio, photos, thumbnails, file names, and recording metadata are stored on your selected Recording Hub. They may pass through an authenticated relay only when a direct connection is unavailable.
- Connection information: the directory service uses account identifiers, Hub identifiers, connection routes, and limited network information needed to discover and connect your own devices. The relay keeps aggregate byte-usage records for quota and abuse prevention.
- Device and security information: paired-device identifiers, public keys, certificates, and encrypted local credentials are used to establish and protect trusted connections.
How information is used and shared
Lucivanta uses this information only to authenticate users, pair devices, route connections, prevent abuse, provide recording and playback features, and support account deletion. We do not sell recordings or use them for advertising. Tether Cam currently has no public feed, public video hosting, advertising SDK, or analytics SDK.
Information is processed by Firebase Authentication, your chosen hosting/network providers for the directory or relay, and the Recording Hubs you control. A relay is designed to forward media; it is not a permanent recording store.
Security
Remote Tether Cam traffic uses encrypted transport. Trusted devices use authenticated pairing and short-lived sessions. Private recordings can be protected on the Hub using Tether Cam’s encrypted recording feature. No security measure can guarantee absolute security, so keep your devices, operating systems, Hub password, and network protected.
Retention and deletion
You control recordings held on your Recording Hub. You can delete individual recordings in the app. Signed-in users can initiate account deletion from Settings. The process removes the Firebase account, directory registrations, and relay-usage records after the currently connected Hub either deletes account-owned recordings or transfers them to local Hub ownership.
Before deleting an account, connect to each Hub that holds account-owned recordings and choose the appropriate recording action. An offline, retired, or inaccessible Hub cannot receive an immediate deletion command; its local recordings must be deleted directly from that Hub when it is available.
Your choices and contact
You can use the in-app account-deletion flow or visit our account deletion page. For privacy questions or a deletion request when you cannot access the app, email hello@lucivanta.com.
